Executive Summary

BayREN’s Climate Careers Program serves approximately 2,000 homes annually while providing workforce development opportunities for low-income youth across nine Bay Area counties. However, fragmented data sources and spreadsheet-driven reporting limited visibility into customer outreach, youth outcomes, and program performance.

DiLytics implemented a Climate Careers Analytics solution as part of BayREN’s enterprise Data Aggregation and Reporting Initiative. The solution integrated operational and workforce data, established standardized metrics, and delivered centralized reporting capabilities supporting outreach, youth development, energy savings, and program performance analytics.

The implementation improved reporting efficiency, enhanced workforce impact measurement, strengthened data governance, and established a scalable foundation for self-service and future advanced analytics, enabling BayREN to better quantify the environmental and community impact of its Climate Careers program.

BayREN’s Climate Careers Program relied on multiple disconnected systems and manual reporting processes that limited visibility into workforce outcomes, customer outreach, and program performance. DiLytics implemented a centralized analytics solution that integrated program data, standardized metrics, automated reporting, and delivered self-service dashboards. The solution improved reporting efficiency, strengthened data governance, and enhanced workforce impact measurement.

Client Overview

The Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN) is a collaboration of nine counties in the San Francisco Bay Area focused on energy efficiency and sustainability programs. One of its programs, the Climate Careers Program combines residential energy efficiency services with youth workforce development, delivering in-home energy assessments and installing energy-saving devices across underserved communities.

Limited Visibility and Manual Reporting Hindering Program Scale and Impact Measurement

The Climate Careers Program managed operational, workforce, and customer data across multiple applications and legacy systems. The fragmented environment made reporting complex, limited access to actionable insights, and restricted stakeholders’ ability to evaluate program effectiveness and workforce outcomes.
